  204. Overview:
  205.      With independence from Ethiopia on 27 April 1993, Eritrea faces the
  206.      bitter economic problems of a small, desperately poor African country.
  207.      Most of the population will continue to depend on subsistence farming.
  208.      Domestic output is substantially augmented by worker remittances from
  209.      abroad. Government revenues come from custom duties and income and
  210.      sales taxes. Eritrea has inherited the entire coastline of Ethiopia
  211.      and has long-term prospects for revenues from the development of
  212.      offshore oil, offshore fishing and tourism. For the time being,
  213.      Ethiopia will be largely dependent on Eritrean ports for its foreign
  214.      trade.
